U+I developer behind 1,500-home plan
Developer U+I has unveiled plans for a major mixed-use scheme on Greenwich Peninsula in south-east London that will provide around 1,500 new homes.
Working with Dutch architect OMA, U+I is consulting on the Morden Wharf plans, which are made up of 11 mixed-tenure residential buildings, that include vertical green facades.
The 1,500 homes, of which 35% will be affordable, will include a mix of private sale, shared ownership and London Affordable Rent, with a focus on family homes.
The proposal also includes a four acre riverfront park, known as Morden Park, which will have views of the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site and Canary Wharf across the Thames.
There will also be a public square that can be used for seasonal events and markets.
The scheme also includes commercial, retail and community space along with light industrial workspace on the area of the site that is designated as Strategic Industrial Land. Bars, pubs and restaurants are also included in the plans.
A hyprid planning application is expected to be submitted to Greenwich council by early next year.
