In the swim: Seven leisure centres in Cornwall have been treated to a lighting upgrade after complaints about visual discomfort. The high pressure sodium lamps being used at the centres have been replaced with Whitelux metal halide lamps from Venture Lighting. Edmundson Electrical of Redruth supplied the lamps for the scheme, which included 250 W and 400 W Whitelux tubular lamps and 250 W protected elliptical lamps. The lamps were chosen as they give a brighter, whiter light with a simple retrofit using high pressure sodium fittings and controlgear.
