M&E contractor Hydro Contracting has completed work on the European Marine Energy Centre in Stromness, Orkney. Working on behalf of principal contractor RJ Macleod, its £1.7 million contract was to design and install the electrical and data systems. The facilities include four test berths around two kilometres offshore at a depth of 50 m. The firm linked each berth to an onshore substation using armoured sub-sea cabling that included low voltage control cores and fibre optics.
