An estimated 100 people demonstrated outside Downing Street on 3 November against a refusal by government to support Diego Garcians – who are British citizens – on their arrival in the UK.

Among the crowd were 33 Diego Garcians who last week won a High Court hearing, certifying that Reigate & Banstead council must house them while it reviews its initial decision to refuse to them homes (HT 5 November, page 13).

The demonstrators want the government to respond within two weeks and have not ruled out future demonstrations.
