Cutting across the party political divisions in the run-up to the general election, seven industry bodies have hashed out a common agenda and want you to present these to campaigning MPs as the price of construction’s support.

The agenda urges all of the political parties to commit to providing:

  • A strong and influential voice for the whole industry in Whitehall and the Cabinet with close inter-departmental coordination on a range of cross cutting issues;
  • Sustained investment in new and improved public services and infrastructure;
  • A reduction in red tape and independent regulatory impact assessments;
  • Sustainable development policies which recognise industry’s needs and responsibilities
  • Incentives for householders to improve the energy efficiency of their properties.

The following organisations have signed up: Construction Products Association; Construction Industry Council; Federation of Master Builders; National Specialist Contractors Council; Specialist Engineering Contractors Group; National Home Improvement Council and the Plumbing and Heating Industry Alliance.
