The findings of the Construction Products Association's second annual e-commerce survey E-construction – where are we now? reveals an industry stepping back from the dotcom fever of 12 months ago.
Jean Emblin, external affairs director, commented: "The construction industry remains committed to embracing e-commerce, however the pace of development has changed significantly."
According to the survey, the industry believed e-commerce would account for 50% of all transactions by 2005. The latest results are more cautious, with 22% being predicted. This reflects current general business opinion of the Internet.
