The University of Portsmouth’s Institute of Criminal Justice Studies and leading risk management training provider Training For Success have joined forces to establish a framework of professional qualifications aimed at servicing the educational needs of the retail profit protection manager.

The core elements of the programme will embrace the external threat posed by traditional thieves coupled with an ethical investigative interviewing element that is said to “provide a key solution to the threat from within”. Client-specific elements – such as retail surveillance – can then be added according to the existing in-house skills sets.

Speaking about the initiative, John Jones of the Institute of Criminal Justice Studies told SMT: "This is an exciting joint venture that brings together the strands of both successful and established strategies with professional recognition of the level of learning the training provides for retail and security professionals.”
