The research phase of the CIC’s Futures Group has been completed and has identified three key themes for areas of increased collaboration between professional bodies.
The group, a conglomerate of 12 institutions including CIBSE, identified 19 objectives on which the project was based. The aim of the research was to identify potential areas of association or integration between the parties. The work was carried out for the CIC by the Building Research Establishment, and was followed up by in-depth interviews with representatives from each group.
The three themes ascertained are: promoting, developing and enhancing skills; public affairs and territorial issues; and knowledge and professional issues. CIBSE chief executive Julian Amey says: “The Futures Group, after only 9 months in existence, is already producing real results. The chemistry between the institutions involved is really beginning to buzz.
“Its philosophy is to build up trust by getting people working together, and I notice a real improvement in the level of cooperation between us.”
