Intruder International has designed and installed the UK’s largest ever single-site IP-based CCTV system to serve Luton Airport

IP Surveillance

The management team at London Luton Airport has embraced IndigoVision’s VideoBridge technology in changing the site’s entire analogue CCTV system to an IP network-based arrangement. Installer Intruder International has converted over 180 existing analogue camera feeds and added 70 IP cameras, all streaming video across the airport’s existing LAN/WAN.

The system is not only used for security and anti-terrorism operations but also for baggage handling, Customs and Excise duties, monitoring cargo sheds and airside gates, retail outlets, car parks and aircraft on the taxiways (the latter via cameras mounted in the Control Tower).

Using IndigoVision’s Control Centre software suite, the majority of airport operations are monitored and controlled from the Network Operations Centre. Here, CCTV images from any of the 250-plus cameras on site are displayed on a large plasma video wall.

All CCTV images are streamed as high definition digital video at real time 25 frames per second across the airport’s 1 Gbit LAN/WAN. By using advanced network protocols, it’s possible for the security team members to view live video at multiple locations.
