We outline the basic steps of setting up an environmental management system to ISO 14001: 1996.

  • ISO 14 001 is a management standard that concentrates on environmental issues in the same way that ISO 9000 focuses on quality
  • Methods of control include internal audits and management review meetings
  • Contractors wishing to be approved to the standard needn’t already hold third party quality assurance certification
  • Contractors who do not operate an existing management system can install an environmental management system or produce an integrated system for both quality and environment issues.
