Simon Gawne – the founder and chief executive of StreamShield Networks, the provider of integrated, Internet-based protection for e-mail, web and other real-time web applications – has joined the Editorial Advisory Board of Security Management Today with a remit to report on IT-related security issues.

Prior to founding StreamShield, Simon was co-founder and commercial vice-president of Red-M, a wireless communications company that stole an early lead in the emerging Bluetooth market.

Simon holds a PhD, a BSc (Hons) in physics and an MBA.

As an introduction to the topics he’ll be covering for SMT, Simon has penned this month’s Secure IT feature on outsourcing (see ‘Can’t someone else do it?’, pp51-52).
