Peter Spiers, Managing Director of JP Glass & Decor, became aware of a problem last year – his company specialises in the supply of high quality 3-19mm thick polished and bevelled glass shapes, but the demand for these to be supplied from toughened glass was increasing dramatically. Having no toughening facility, this work was subcontracted.

‘Keeping control of product quality was a nightmare’, said Peter. ‘Through no fault of our own, we were struggling to maintain our standards.’

After deciding to take the process in house, JP Glass now has a new Efco oscillating glass tempering system with a 2400mm x 1500mm load area which can process glass up to 25mm thick. The system includes an air aspiration system for soft coat low E glasses, which Efco says also increases the quality and processing speed for other glasses.
