Included within the package are all off-the-job-training, Key Skills, NVQ registration, assessment and examination fees. This means that the only financial commitment required from the employer is that of the apprentice’s employment costs and travel to training venues.
In addition, JTL will pay an Achievement Measurement 2 (AM2) test fee grant for electrotechnical apprentices by way of a contribution towards the cost (excluding vat) of up to two attempts at the test.
With a target of 2700 apprentices to recruit across the three trades in September 2003, JTL hopes that this incentive will encourage companies to take on more trainees.
David Rogers, JTL chief executive, commented: “I am confident that this generous support package will encourage even more companies to recruit apprentices, which will help them achieve a highly skilled workforce, and go some way to alleviating the current widespread skills shortages in our industry.”
