A digital video recorder that's said to offer "outstanding picture quality" for end users has been developed by JVC Professional

  • Digital CCTV
Surveillance system developer JVC has launched its digital video (DV) recorder – designated the BR-DV3000E – which incorporates a dual-standard tape mechanism designed to provide basic functions and facilities for the low cost recording and transfer of images (using either standard or mini DV tapes).

In essence, this means that an LA-DV276PRO standard DV tape allows over four-and-a-half hours' recording time. For added flexibility of use, DVCAM tapes can also be played back. For CCTV applications, end users can network two recorders together, thereby generating up to nine hours of recording time.

Improved tape running stability ensures that, if operational space is limited, the recorder can be deployed in both horizontal and vertical positions. It also provides the facility to search and fast-forward/rewind tapes at speeds up to 100x. Additional features include 20x high speed time code search, wired serial remote, audio indication and continuous back-up recording when being used directly with a CCTV camera.

    Just a touch more compression

  • CCTV
Ademco Video is offering a range of hard disc recorders that require only one third of the space associated with equivalent hard drives. The single-channel AHDR1X offers a direct alternative to tape-based applications, allowing it to be simply dropped in to any system in place of a VCR.

Higher up the range, the AHDR4,9,16X boasts a built-in multiplexer to manage its multi-channel options, offering a complete mux/digital recorder solution for the end user.

All models in the series use advanced image processing and compression techniques which enable clean, low-artefact images to be stored. The digital multiplex models also have programmable video motion detection, while the nine and 16-Channel units feature a pager messaging facility when used with an external modem.

Ademco has also launched the Systems range of CCTV cameras through VCL. Backlight compensation comes in four or eight windows for maximum image quality in difficult lighting conditions, while Discrete Cosine Transfer reduces image data in low light.

    Bosch motion

  • Video motion detectors
  • CCTV
Bosch Security Systems has extended its range of security sensors with a new family of low cost video motion detectors for use with CCTV systems.

The VMD01 model V8101P is a single-channel video sensor that easily connects between the camera and monitor. It allows the end user to set up areas of interest, target size, direction of movement and different day/night settings locally or remotely.

When in operational mode, the system then automatically detects any motion in the target area, displaying the alarm video on a monitor complete with overlaid colour highlighting of the motion for easier end user evaluation.

    Recognition isn't far away

  • ANPR systems
  • Access control
APT Controls has further strengthened its position as one of the UK's leading vehicular access control system manufacturers with the addition of the Talon Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system to its already-proven range of access management solutions for end users.

Talon isn't phased by low light levels, and can be operated with infrared, visible floodlighting or with dedicated multi-level pulsed infrared camera systems – in all weather conditions.

The recognition element will spot a plate that appears anywhere on the video image.

    By day or night

  • CCTV
Integrated day/night CCTV cameras designed by Extreme CCTV deliver low noise, high signal pictures. Models in the range capture and control light, adapting to prevailing conditions – whether they involve full daylight or, conversely, total darkness.

The EX82DXL integrates two CCD sensors and 84 LEDs.
