The BSIA and SITO-sponsored web site www.securityhelpdesk.co.uk has been launched to serve as a valuable information source for security officers and teams such that they might keep up-to-date with the latest news on Best Practice initiatives, training and general trends across the industry.

The site aims to provide online tips and advice, and covers all essential ‘core competency’ subjects (including conflict management and communication skills) in addition to more specialist areas.

The web site is sure to be an excellent asset for all security officers as they begin to face the changes that Security Industry Authority licensing will bring during 2005 and beyond.

To further assist them, officers employed by BSIA member companies will be able to e-mail any queries to the site. Those questions will then be answered by a panel of dedicated experts in the field, underpinned by additional advice provided by both the BSIA and SITO.

The web site also supports the series of Security Officer and Team handbooks which are already being read by 25,000 security officers employed across the UK by BSIA member companies.
