The Office of Government and Commerce has awarded Lend Lease Projects a project management framework agreement, after Bovis Lend Lease staff made 22% savings on a four-year programme refurbishing job centres for the Department for Work and Pensions.
The Lend Lease Projects will provide project management and design team services for public sector departments including healthcare authorities, emergency services, local authorities, schools and colleges.
A total of 50 Lend Lease staff are currently working on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions on the £700m programme to overhaul job centres. Lend Lease said that it had managed to make savings of 22% on the four-year Jobcentre Plus project by eradicating waste and inefficiencies.
Phil Wade, head of Lend Lease said: “Projects such as the Global Alliance (with BP), Jobcentre Plus and Bradford Schools reorganisation programme, all of which have required input from Lend Lease Projects’ staff, provided the platform for this win with OGC buying.solutions.”
Wade said: “Our ability to manage complex work programmes in partnership with our clients using innovation, best practice and a challenging approach were all key to winning the appointment.”
Peter O’Connor, the works programme manager for DWP’s estate department, was one of those seconded from Bovis Lend Lease. He said the department had switched from using traditional procurement methods in the first year of the programme, which he said were slow, to a framework deal in the second.
The new agreement was awarded by OGC Buying Solutions, an agency of the Office of Government Commerce in the Treasury, which provides procurement services for central government.
Lend Lease Projects was formed in January 2005 by Bovis Lend Lease and offers project managing and design services. Bovis Lend Lease was named Integrated Supply Chain Team of the Year this week at the 2005 Building Awards.
