Comfort and energy efficiency levels improve at the rebuilt Fleetwood High School PFI project.
Pupils at the newly rebuilt Fleetwood High School, Lancashire can now learn about energy efficiency and comfort control of buildings just by sitting in their classrooms.

Funded under the Private Finance Initiative, the school is the result of Lancashire County Council’s first Public Private Partnership. It was built by the Eric Wright Group, who will provide facilities management services for the next 25 years. T Jolly (Services) won the £1.2 million mechanical contract.

Heating and ventilation plant has been selected to limit energy consumption and minimise long-term running costs. Rehau underfloor heating was installed – chosen for its energy efficiency, comfort and low maintenance needs. A Trend building management system, with 55 intelligent controllers and a pc head-end was supplied and installed by JBC Controls Systems of Horwich. This provides close temperature control and monitoring on a room-by-room basis and can be overseen remotely by Eric Wright and JBC.
