Zumtobel Staff has launched the RTX II lighting system. Available as both an individual luminaire and a continuous row system the unit is suitable for a range of applications from offices to classrooms. The luminare's angular extruded aluminium section is complimented by a one-piece reflector optic made of natural anodised aluminium, a distinct feature of the range.
The range also includes the RTX II wallwasher, especially designed for illuminating blackboards in classrooms.
Single source solution
Architectural FX has developed the Luensis single source lighting solution to comply with the requirements of Lighting Guide 3, addendum 2001. The fixture has been developed to address the recommendations set out in the guide and eradicate the dark and oppressive visual environment associated with category 2 installations.
The unit emits light from all four sides of the fixture; lighting all the adjacent ceiling tiles and avoids sharp cut-offs and high luminance patches in the space. The ceiling and wall illuminance achieved are 30% and 50% respectively.
The modular luminaire utilises linear T5 lamp technology and is available in standard high frequency, high frequency analogue and DALI dimmable, with integral standard or addressable three hour emergency.
Lets get digital
Forge Europa has expanded its range of interlocking seven segment displays. The range is now available in seven character heights, spanning from 14 mm to 200 mm, and a large number of colour options which range from 660 nm high intensity red to 470 nm pure blue.
The range utilises a dovetail locking facility which allows accurate positioning of adjacent displays and the light friction fit between units makes assembly simple. As the interlock is common across the series from 14 mm to 57 mm, different size digits can be used within a design and will line up exactly.
Other features of the range include a fast reliable interconnection, a mounting system without the need for a pcb and consistent font style across the range. All devices also feature both a comma and a decimal point.
Light appraisal
Hess now provides all its product data necessary for the photorealistic rendering of light calculations via the internet. All that is required to download the data is a click on the respective luminaire.
Users can obtain 3D models, information about material and reflection properties and the light distribution curves in a variety of programme formats for each luminaire.
The data can be used in a number of light calculation programmes such as Radiance and Lightscape, as well as for almost all standard cad applications. As well as showing the quality characteristics of the lighting Hess claims the product data allows the proposed lighting plans to be depicted in a way that is extremely close to reality, allowing lighting effects to be evaluated precisely early on in a project.
LightGraphix expands led range
LightGraphix has launched a number of led luminaires together with an led version of its 12.8 LightTube. All are available with white (4600 K), blue, green and red leds as standard and have a rated life of 50 000 hours.
The LED SR270 and SR280 recessed luminaires are available with up to 12 fittings and are suitable for applications such as pathway and step lighting. Units can be powered by a single electronic power supply driver.
The LED LightTube is suitable for decorative lighting and can be recessed either by inserting into a prepared channel or in the case of walls, ceilings and enclosed spaces, by using LightGraphix's U channel. Constructed from rigid 12·8 mm diameter extruded transparent polycarbonate tube, LightTube is available in any length up to 5·6 m.
