Light side of the street: The housing estate featured in Alan Parker's film The Commitments has undergone an £8.5m rebuild.
The36 tower blocks on the Ballymun estate in Dublin have been demolished and replaced with 95 new homes – low-rise apartment blocks and single-storey houses. A new swimming pool and leisure centre have also been built.
Architect Levitt Bernstein designed the first batch of homes for landlord Ballymun Regeneration. GEM Construction built the scheme.
