Lighting: Amey success

Amey, the support services company, has been chosen as preferred bidder for Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council's £80m PFI lighting contract — one of the first lighting projects to be tendered under the PFI process. The contract will run for 25 years.

Amey will be responsible for the management and maintenance of all existing lighting — a total of more than 26,000 units. Over the first five years of the contract Amey will replace life-expired streetlighting equipment.
