The capital could get a new skyscraper if plans are accepted, according to Sky News. The 1007ft Bishopsgate tower is set to dwarf some of its neighbours, but it will be eight feet lower than the London Bridge Tower or “Shard of Glass, ” due to be completed in 2009.

The Bishopsgate Tower is set to be a glass spiral structure incorporating 950,000 sq ft of office space with a restaurant on the 43rd floor – making it the highest public space in London.

Lee Polisano of architects Kohn Pederson said it unites and balances London’s new tall buildings. The Corporation of London is considering the plans .
