Malbern Windows Group has developed an impressive fabricating service to the trade, tailored to smaller and medium sized retailers. Based just off the new M60 Manchester ring road at Denton, the Group has over 20 years of continuous trading behind it.
Back in 1983, Wayne Clarke, Stuart Kenyon and Paul Thackeray, bought a dilapidated factory unit on the Malbern Industrial Estate and set up Malbern UPVC Windows & Doors Limited. 20 years of consistent growth saw them buying units 2, 3, 4, 5 and in February this year, the final unit. Malbern Industrial Estate IS now Malbern Windows with over 80,000 sq. ft. of production area.

The company started as a windows and doors installer but quickly began fabricating its own frames. As Malbern grew, the need to offer customers a wider service became apparent and in 1986 the company decided to set up its own glass shop to manufacture double glazed units. The glass production lines now manufacture over 5,000 IG units a week, with an Argon filled option.

Substantial investment currently being made in new technology and in quality and production control systems will see that capacity increases to 10,000 IDG units per week whilst frame production will rise from 800 frames a week currently to over 1,200 frames a week. Malbern has manufactured for the trade since it was established but this had primarily been to local builders and installers who picked up their frames from the factory. A specialist division, Malbern Direct was established to develop the trade fabrication business.

The company has developed a 70mm frame based on the Eurocell profile especially for trade customers. Called ‘Inspiration Plus’ the new range is made from top quality, impact resistant PVC-U with a slimline profile, fully chamfered and pre-gasketed to simplify installation. ‘Inspiration Plus’ is available in a range of options including pure white, rosewood, mahogany or golden oak wood effects either both sides or on white. High security features are standard and product quality is guaranteed with BBA certification, ISO EN 9002, all IG units Kitemarked and an on-going NVQ training programme for all operatives.

Malbern Direct is a one-stop-shop for installers because as well as the choice of glazed or unglazed frames, the company can supply Pinnacle conservatory roofs, a wide range of doors and decorative glass products that include lead designs, Georgian bar, bevels and stained glass effects.
