The Manor Kingdom Group is building 195 dwellings at a marina in Inverkip on the Clyde Coast. The concept of the new village was inspired by a traditional village further up the Scottish west coast. "It's not a pastiche, but it does have the same flavour," says managing director Keith Punler.

To blend the homes with the environment West Coast materials such as slate roofs and stonework are employed. Architect John Thompson and Partners has included apartments, penthouses, terrace housing, townhouses and detached homes in the scheme. Prices for the two to five-bed homes range from £100 000 to £500 000 and buyers will have preferential berthing rights in the marina.

Manor Kingdom sees the new village as part of a wider trend for waterside homes and has set up a division called Waterfront Living. The move follows its acquisition of Berkeley Homes subsidiary St Andrews for £25m.
