The UK electrical contracting market will increase by 3·3% in 2002 but over one-third of the industry will not grow and could lose 17% of sales.
A growth of 22·9% was shared by 438 companies in 2001, with 110 of these seeing sales increases of over 45·9%. However, two-thirds of the companies in the lower third of the market saw profits fall in 2001 and almost 30% are currently loss-making.
Competitive pressure to secure market share is expected to grow in 2002.
The figures are quoted in the latest report from Plimsoll (01642 626400).
