MDA Consulting has started doing business in the Caribbean in both the comercial and public sectors.
The Croydon-based firm has won a $70m (£40.1m) contract to provide QSing and project management on a resort on the island of Providenciales in the Turks & Caicos Islands.
The 10.3 acre development for client Cherokee will comprise 143 hotel rooms, a spa, three swimming pools, a restaurant and various sports facilities. It is due to open in December 2007.
The Veranda resort will be built on Grace Beach, which is part of the Princess Alexandra National Park. Steve Jones, director at MDA, is overseeing the job.
MDA is also bidding for two PFI projects in the Carribean and is considering opening an office in the region. Currently it operates from the offices of Barbados-based QS firm Cooper Kauffman, with which it has formed an association.
Back in the UK, the company is poised to open an office in Swansea. In the Czech Republic the firm has won a €20m (£13.78m) project on a listed hotel scheme in Prague. Client SC-Master has hired the firm to manage the pre-construction design phase of the scheme.
