Boss of SCS Group plans to climb world's most formidable mountain in 2011

The boss of a Scottish M&E firm is aiming to raise at least £10,000 for charity by scaling Mount Everest.

Allan Meek, managing director of SCS Group aims to complete the challenge in 2011.

As part of his preparations he is planning to trek to Everest base camp next month and in the process raise £10,000 for children's charity Barnado's.

Meek says his trip to the 5,360m-high Everest base camp will help him acclimatise to conditions in the Himalayas.

In 2010 he plans to continue training closer to him."After this trip, I'm going to Scotland early next year for some snow and ice training, then the Alps and the highest mountain outside of Asia, Cerro Aconcagua in Argentina."
