Julia Pallister is sales and marketing director of Prowting Homes Central.
How did you get to where you are?
Bloody hard work, determination and good mentors. I started in a temporary job at Wates in North London, enjoyed it and joined full time. I worked for Prowting in London for five years and I'm happy to stay at the company.

What's been your biggest challenge?
Making sure the design of the homes has the correct kerb appeal. I work with architects from the beginning of the design process to make sure we are building for our customers.

What is your greatest achievement?
Persuading planners to give the go-ahead for a high-density scheme in Bucks. If you can paint a picture of a scheme you can sell it to planners.

What's been your most unusual extra?
We built one man a sauna, Jacuzzi and swimming pool in his garage area. We've just appointed an upgrades manager at Prowting Central who will continue to sell to customers once they've moved in.

Do you prefer the town or country?
I lived in London for 20 years and have done about everything you can possibly do there. I moved to the country because of the schools and quality of life - less traffic means I can get to the office in 20 minutes rather than two hours.

What car do you drive?
An S-type Jaguar but the tax is crippling and I'm thinking of replacing it.
