I studied at building college and worked at numerous architects during my youth, including a local authority practice. I was introduced to Charles Church and remained there for 27 years until April – a casualty of the Persimmon takeover.
What was your biggest achievement?
I like to think I had a large part to play in maintaining the recognisable brand stamp of Charles Church through attention to quality design, detail and materials.
What will be your challenge at Fairclough Homes?
I'd like to give Fairclough a recognisable design stamp across the group. Coming up with a theme is harder with PPG3 as each development has become site-specific to satisfy planners' desire for high density and quality housing.
What do you think will happen to Charles Church?
Until recently Charles Church was renowned for building four/five bed executive homes. With PPG3 it could be in for a culture shock. You can't cherrypick a few housetypes any more.
What kind of house do you live in?
A barn I converted 22 years ago.
What car do you drive?
My old company car, an Omega Vauxhall Estate.
