Following the merger of NACOSS with the ISI (Inspectorate of the Security Industry), a new body has been launched to co-ordinate the roles of both organisations and give a more positive approach to regulation.

The National Security Inspectorate (NSI) will act as an umbrella organisation for them both, with the intention of providing a "single focus" for customers, suppliers of security services and law enforcement agencies.

Dr David Holt, Chief Executive of NACOSS, has been appointed Chief Executive of the umbrella organisation. The Chairman of the Board is Sir Michael Bett, who is also Chairman of ISI and NACOSS. Other board members will represent consumers and users, insurers, trade bodies, security professionals, police, government and guarantors.

The relationship between NACOSS and its recognised firms will be "unaltered for the time being" says the organisation.
