The National Asylum Support Service’s caseworkers could be moved to regional offices in a continuing drive for localisation.
NASS has opened nine regional offices to handle housing contract management, investigation of abuses of the system, antisocial behaviour and racial harassment.

Speaking at the Association of London Government conference on Saturday, NASS director Freda Chaloner said she wanted more functions, including individual casework, to be sent out to these regional offices.

An internal Home Office report released on Tuesday criticised NASS for poor management.
