Network Housing Association claims to have doubled the number of affordable homes in a mixed retail and residential project in central London scheme by securing the role of developer.
It said this would be the first time that a housing association had led a large mixed retail project.
The £73m development by Network subsidiary Pimlico Village Developments will offer 81 affordable homes, a Sainsbury supermarket, eight shops and 79 flats for private sale on a former bus depot in Pimlico.
Assistant chief executive, Peter Hibbert said: “By securing the role of developer we have won more than 50 per cent of the new homes to help meet the huge demand for affordable housing in Westminster, without relying on any planning agreements.”
