This award recognises the talents and successes of new professionals in our industry and is open to professionals working in the field of building services for less than 10 years. The new achiever award is about finding the industry’s future leaders. The judges were looking for: a commitment to continued professional development; determination to succeed; a ‘can-do’ attitude; evidence of a wider view of the world than simply work!

Winner

Mitesh Patel

WSP

Patel wowed the judges with his level of achievement since beginning work in building services in 1998. They were impressed with his practical experience as well as his academic attainment, which saw him complete his BEng with first-class honours last year. He has also collected a number of industry, university and WSP awards.

As a CIBSE-registered low-carbon consultant, environmental concerns are at the forefront of his design ethos. That thinking put him in good stead when he contributed to the concept design for the £350m Sevenstone development in Sheffield, which secured a BREEAM “excellent” rating and a level four rating under the Code for Sustain-able Homes. His all-round efforts saw him promoted to associate by WSP last year.
