The £6 million lottery-funded transformation includes a 200-seater auditorium, community meeting rooms, studio, rehearsal and recording space, an information point, and a cafe and restaurant.
Key features of building services design include the use of stack effect ventilation and passive solar acceleration techniques to provide natural ventilation to the main reception area and circulation spaces. Free cooling to the auditorium is provided using pre-cooling and night-cooling techniques.
M&E space provisions were minimised to ensure systems could be fully integrated within the fabric of the building, this included an IT network, providing full system integration of voice and data communications throughout the complex and production lighting and sound systems.
