Due out this month is the third edition of the authoritative guide to the principles and practice of construction project management.
The new edition offers new guidance on project planning, the performance management plan, partnering, project risk assessment, environmental impact assessment, procurement options, EU procurement procedures and a value for money framework.

The code is divided into two sections. The first covers eight project stages from inception to completion, each accompanied by diagrams, flowcharts and checklists. The second section is a project handbook, complete with guidance documentation and checklists. Assessing and managing risk is a strong theme throughout.

The code is the fruit of intensive consultation between the CIOB and the professional bodies in the construction and development industries.
