The University of London’s Queen Mary college has launched what it claims is the first postgraduate course in the UK to examine the links between urban regeneration and health.
The course, for people involved in regeneration and wider provision, will focus on health impact assessments and identifying good practice in policy making. The course will study means of increasing community participation and ownership of regeneration and health-based programmes.
Participants will create a health impact assessment as part of the course and look at ways of applying existing evidence to their work.
The aim is to enable renewal staff and managers to develop their own strategies for assessing the effects of regeneration projects on public health.
