Construction portal Buildonline has appointed Peter Ross its director of UK business.
Ross said that he was impressed with Buildonline's "client base, its financial and market position and it service to clients. Gaining £10m funding earlier this year was a powerful statement".

Ross's responsibilities include attracting new business, making sure the service Buildonline supplies to clients is applicable to construction industry needs and product development.

Gail Kirby, marketing manager for Buildonline said Ross's industry and e-business experience were the main reasons he was given the role. "Peter has been involved with e-business since more or less the beginning in 1997/98. And he shares our philosophy on providing support and service to clients as well as technology."

Ross, who is a civil engineer by trade, was previously with rival portal BIW Technologies. Before that, he was managing director of collapsed electronic project management system Iscraper. He was taken on by BIW on a short-term basis as part of its deal to take on the bulk of Iscraper's projects.
