The SSAIB (Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Boardhas added a new fire protection scheme to its range of available accreditation.
The British Approvals for Fire Equipment (BAFE) Fire Protection Industry Modular Scheme SP203 was developed to enable the third party certification of those involved in the design, installation, handover and ongoing maintenance of fire detection and alarm systems.
The SSAIB has been accredited by UKAS, the United Kingdom Accreditation Service, to include the scheme within its Scope of Accreditation to EN45011. The modules were chosen to acknowledge the diversity of skills required within the sector, and aim to ensure that the companies involved in the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of the systems have an appropriate level of competence, adequate process control and sufficient resources to effectively undertake their task.
The modular approach means contractors can select their Scope of Accreditation from a combination of modules, with no limit on the combination permitted.
Companies certificated under the rules of the scheme will be both listed by BAFE and certificated by SSAIB.
