BV Hospitality, the new owner of London soup bar chain Soup Works has said it plans to push the brand name in the contract catering sector.
The company's managing director Aldus Chapin believes that there are opportunities in business, industry and transport for Soup Works, which was crippled by large high street rents and the seasonal appeal of soup. Chapin plans to add a number of other lines including pasta, sandwiches and salads to the Soup Works brand to reduce its seasonal dependence.
Although the chain has under performed to date, Chapin said BV Hospitality would keep the existing three outlets, as its high street presence could add weight in contract catering. However, the company has no plans to open more outlets.
UK-based BV Hospitality swallowed the ailing soup chain at the end of June, just weeks after it went into administration, at the end of May.
