There’s still time to enter a fantasy football team and win prizes – just ask November’s manager of the month winner, Andrew Morford
The winner of November’s Manager of the Month, Alan CS Red and White Army, are managed by Andrew Morford, a Pilkington employee. He is an accountant at the Bermondsey branch and he’s certainly picked the right numbers. He only signed up to play on the 3rd of November and yet still managed to claim a mighty 216 points in his first month.
Being new to the competition clearly has its advantages. As the season takes shape and players find a rhythm, Andrew built a new team based on how he expected players to perform in hand picked games. With a strong nucleus of Liverpool players, Andrew’s meteoric rise has coincided with a bit of a purple patch for the Reds as they beat ‘lesser’ opposition such as Aston Villa, Sunderland, Man City and Portsmouth.
The Reds did not concede a single goal in five games in November as they took their European form into domestic competition. It is hardly surprising therefore that a team with an iron defence consisting of Jose Manual Reina, John Arne Riise, Jamie Carragher and Sami Hypia should set the month alight.
Andrew, a Charlton fan, is ecstatic at winning a trip for him and his girlfriend to a Marriott Hotel over a weekend. He comments: ‘I have been following the fantasy football since the season started but only decided to actually enter last month when someone else at the Bermondsey branch won manager of the month. I didn’t really have any tactics as such and put my win down to pure luck, although I’m sure some people will disagree with me.’
Andrew’s success proves that it is possible to enter a team even at this stage in the season and still come out on top. He continues: ‘As a Charlton supporter I’m not really expecting much success from my team this season so I’m really pleased that I won manager of the month.’
