The losses came after the firm closed its piling division

A total of 32 jobs have been lost from Morgan Sindall after it closed its piling division. The firm blamed the closure of the business on a lack of tendering opportunities for work in the long term.

The decision affects 44 staff and was taken after a month-long consultation with workers was concluded last week.

A spokesperson for Morgan Sindall said: “We can confirm that we have taken the decision to close our piling business.

“This decision has affected 44 staff of which 12 have been redeployed and 32 have left the business, the majority of whom have secured alternative employment. All existing piling commitments have been completed.”

Although Morgan Sindall refused to disclose the revenue from its piling division, it is unlikely to have contributed significant profits.
