The Sheffield Schools Services consortium, formed by equity investors Tilbury Douglas and Innisfree, reached commercial close on the 25-year deal with Sheffield City Council last week.
Financial close is still two months off, but the contractor will start work next week on two primary and four secondary schools. The primaries will be open by Easter 2001, the others in September 2001.
The consortium’s architect is GHM Rock Townsend. Tilbury Douglas subsidiaries Interserve FM and How Engineering Services will be responsible for facilities management and engineering respectively.
Sheffield council has also announced that it is to receive £30m in PFI credits from the Department for Education and Employment for two more PFI secondary schools.
