Consultant already lead designer on £400m scheme

Aecom has won the project manager role on the £400m plan to move London’s Moorfields Eye Hospital near Old Street to Camden.

Last year, an Aecom-led team, which includes Penoyre & Prasad and White Arkitekter, won the RIBA design competition beating a number of others including RSHP, Hopkins Architects and Bennetts Associates.

Expected to be open by 2026, the new facility – named Oriel – will relocate all services from the existing Moorfields Eye Hospital on City Road to a 45,000sq m joint facility at the St Pancras Hospital site two miles away.

Aecom is also providing civil, structural and building services engineering on the job.

A full business case for the project is expected to be submitted for approval in 2021/22.
