Mike Staples joins Aecom to focus on “work with signature architects”

Aecom has poached Rider Levett Bucknall’s head of Europe, Mike Staples.

Staples joins Aecom to focus on the consultant’s work “with the world’s signature architects”, the firm said in a statement. He becomes a director in Aecom’s global program, cost and consultancy business.

Staples’ past projects include the Zayed National Museum, Adnec Arena and the Masdar masterplan in Abu Dhabi – all designed by Foster + Partners. He has also worked with Roger Stirk Harbour + Partners on T4 at Madrid-Barajas Airport and the 900,000 sq ft headquarters for Seoul Broadcasting Systems.

Staples said: “I am excited to have the opportunity to work with this rapidly growing and evolving business.

“The combination of Aecom’s experience of large projects in the cultural, commercial, sports and infrastructure sectors and its unique built environment offering to clients is perfect for growing the business in the wider real estate market.”

David Glover, Aecom’s global chief executive of building engineering, said: “Mike’s wealth of international experience working with many of the world’s signature designers will allow us to expand our client base.”
