Companies House documents show the new firm was incorporated on 29 September, listing O’Brien and Papastylianos as directors.

Mitesh Bavdekar, managing director of Dubai-based engineering consultant KPM, also joined the company as a director in October, according to LinkedIn.

O’Brien joined AKT II, one of the UK’s largest structural engineers, in 1999 and spent 26 years at the firm before leaving in August this year. Papastylianos, a director at the firm, joined in 2008 and also left in August.

In a recent update to his LinkedIn profile, O’Brien said his decision to co-found Agentia Design Engineering “extends his journey as a founding director of AKT II, one of the UK’s foremost engineering consultancies”.

AKT II was founded in 2011 following a management buyout backed by Swedish engineering firm Tyréns. The company’s origins go back to 1996 when it was known as Adams Kara Taylor founded by Hanif Kara, Albert Williamson-Taylor and Robin Adams.

AKT II has been contacted for comment.
