UCATT Scottish regional secretary Alan Ritchie is favourite to succeed George Brumwell as UCATT general secretary

Leading construction union UCATT will announce later today who will replace George Bruwmell as its new general secretary.

UCATT Scottish regional secretary Alan Ritchie is tipped to win the election against maverick union member Michael Dooley.

Ritchie is the favourite to succeed George Brumwell as general secretary having polled 47 per cent of the votes cast in the first round, London organiser Mr Dooley won around 24 per cent.

Polls closed at midday today with the news of the winner expected to be given by Mr Brumwell at a conference of fulltime officials being held in Doncaster.
