Architect Will Alsop has received planning permission for a new art gallery and “loo with a view” in Peckham.

The new developments by SMC Alsop will join the architect's award-winning Peckham Library on Peckham Square.

Southwark Council last night gave planning permission for architects SMC Alsop's "Peckham Pier" art gallery and a public toilet from which you can view the sky.

The gallery will host exhibitions by local, national and international artists and Turner Prize winners.

Southwark Council's executive member for regeneration, Cllr Richard Thomas, said: “The regeneration of Peckham, with its award-winning library, square and mixture of new social and private housing has transformed this part of the borough.

“This latest addition brings space for art, culture and entertainment to Peckham's already vibrant and diverse community.”
