Amey has been named preferred bidder for a large PFI project in Edinburgh.
The £360m "Investing in Education" scheme will build 10 new schools and extend and refurbish five secondary and three special schools.

Amey last year won the Glasgow PFI schools project in a deal worth £1.2bn. Amey Asset Services and its joint-venture partner, Miller Construction, will carry out design-and-build works and Amey's business services arm will service the buildings for 30 years.

  • Skanska UK has announced that it had been named preferred bidder to develop the £200m East West Rail link between East Anglia to Oxford, via Milton Keynes – the "high-tech crescent". After its completion, expected in 2006, it will become part of Railtrack's national network.
