Support services group Amey is restructuring to focus more closely on defence, local authorities, education, health and utilities.
The revamp, taking place this spring, involves the disbanding of the business process outsourcing arm and the infrastructure management and maintenance section. The managing director of the outsourcing arm, Michael Pilbeam, has resigned and will leave the group next month.

The group will keep its asset services, fleet services and technology services as separate business arms.

Chief executive Brian Staples said: "The scale of opportunities in front of us clearly indicates that the time is right for the group to adopt a structure that will enable it to continue, and indeed accelerate its development in the future."
