The National Audit Office is to investigate the BBC's White City office project next to BBC television centre in west London, which is being completed by Bovis Lend Lease. The watchdog will look at how the BBC is spending the £2.6bn of licence fee income on external suppliers.

The NAO is to conduct six investigations into the BBC, including the White City project and the corporation's investment in Freeview, its digital joint venture with BSkyB and Crown Communications.
