The owner of Camden’s Canal Street market has called in Arup to advise it on damage caused by a fire last weekend.

Camden Market Holdings said: “We’re expecting engineers to be on site for some time. It’s difficult to say how long the assessment will take.” Engineers were expected to start work on Wednesday. Nobody was hurt, but up to 90 stalls were destroyed when fire swept through the market on Saturday evening. The owners of Canal Street market have long-term ambitions to redevelop the site and are in early-stage discussions with the Council and residents.
